Why join Lambda Chi Alpha?

There are many reasons to join Lambda Chi Alpha, and join a fraternity in general. Greek life is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Don't make the mistake of passing it up--I guarantee you, you may regret it one day. For an in-depth, all-inclusive, thought-out answer to this question, please visit our official website here:

However, for a more personal look at Greek life and whether or not it's for you, allow me to share with you my personal experience so far with Lambda Chi Alpha.

I'm a Junior right now at WCU, and I became an initiated brother this past April 26, 2008. That date is etched in my mind like a birthday or Christmas because of the significance it holds to me now and the way it will affect me for my entire life. Sometimes I sit back and think about my entire experience as an associate member as it leads into my experience as a newly initiated brother. And in this short period of time, I can recall countless memories, events and situations that have helped me shape myself into the man I will become once I graduate. Where four awkward years of high school fell short, Lambda Chi Alpha succeeded.

I had no intention of joining a fraternity when I came to college. Television, movies, and personal experience had lead me to believe that fraternities were not my kind of thing. It was a scene I wanted no part in. Only after some very valuable advice from my girlfriend (who is also Greek) did I even give the idea a chance. But it happened to me just as it did my other 10,000 active brothers and the 258,000 nation-wide...after one taste of Lambda Chi Alpha, I was hooked.

Lambda Chi Alpha offers the best college experience possible. While that may not mean anything to a non-brother, it means a great deal to us because we know the extent of its validity. By joining a fraternity like Lambda Chi Alpha, you will change in a positive way. In just one semester, I have been challenged in so many ways. I am more responsible, confident, trustworthy, and open-minded. This list will stretch even further once I finish my four years at Western, and these qualities will help me build a better life with the values and lessons I will have learned during my time as a brother of Lambda Chi Alpha.

Sometimes people ask me what it is that makes Lambda Chi Alpha such a strong brotherhood. Why is it, they ask, that I feel confident that if I was stuck in the middle of New York City with no place to go and no money and was able to flag down a brother, that brother would take me wherever I needed to go, buy a meal for me, or help me in any way possible? The answer lies within the ritual, principles, ideals, and traditions that our entire fraternity upholds on a daily basis. Lambda Chi Alpha boasts such a strong brotherhood through its ritual that you can feel a connection to a brother you've never met simply because you know what they know. You've done what they've done. You are truly his brother and he is truly yours. That is what ties any fraternity or sorority to its members in other chapters, but in Lambda Chi Alpha, we claim to be the best college experience possible. And if you give it a chance, you will agree.

Whether you're a freshman or a senior, black, white, single, married, Jewish, Catholic, Christian,...as long as you're a man, you will be welcome if you seek to join the brotherhood of Lambda Chi Alpha. You may think to yourself that this is simply not a commitment you want to make while in college. But you are not making a commitment for your four years in college--you're making it for a lifetime. It just so happens that your best experiences will be during college. Right now I'm wearing a letter shirt. And when I look down at the letters, it reminds me of my brothers, my life-long friends, and what the letters and our fraternity as a whole stands for. Never would I ever regret joining a fraternity. I dare to say the same about you. So challenge yourself to join the best--to be the best--to be Lambda Chi Alpha.
